Men who consumed the greatest amount of bran were 30% less likely to develop heart disease than those who consumed no bran. Men who consumed the highest amount of whole grains reduced the risk of heart disease by 18%. Diets high in whole grain food have also been linked to better weight control and lower risk of type 2 diabetes.
