No matter what diet is tried, calories are still relevant. Consume too many calories and it is stored as fat. Americans are largely unaware of what a normal portion really looks like. Although large fish have been known to carry levels of mercury, small fish are generally quite safe even for pregnant women. The consumption of many varieties of nuts was also encouraged to help control blood pressure, cholesterol and even cancer.
