The increase amounts a 60% increase which gives a total of 1.56 billion high blood pressure sufferers by 2025. It is vital that hypertension is controlled as it is a major risk factor for death and disability caused by heart attacks and strokes. The prevalence of hypertension is caused by lifestyle factors such as inactivity, high fat diet and high salt consumption.
