Cell division: Separation of a cell into two that have one chromosome each.
Introduction: Cell division occurs as part of mitosis, where each cell then re-generates the extra DNA it was missing. Cell division also occurs in the creation of germ cells during meoisis, in which case each germ cell remains haploid.
