Medical Malpractice Dictionary: Treating Physician
Treating Physician: The doctor who actually treated the patient (in medical malpractice cases)
Treating Physician: The term "treating physician" is used to specifically describe the doctor or one of the doctors who actually treated the patient in a medical malpractice case. In many cases, a medical malpractice case will have the treating physician as a defendant, but not always. Other doctors who did not actually treat the patient are not called treating physicians.
